Group Pilates Classes
‘Me…time’ Pilates
Classes are kept small as this is more appropriate to ensure the Instructor can give individual attention where appropriate and correction where necessary.
(A maximum of 14 participants per class)
The Instructor will constantly be observing and communicating with both the group and individual clients.
New clients will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding health, well-being and injury history. It is essential that you give us as much information as possible to ensure you can get the most out of the session.
Where:
‘Me..time’ Pilates Mat Pilates classes are held in fitness Centres, village halls, schools, social clubs and country pubs in many areas around Worcestershire. Exercise mats are provided at our studio or class venues, but of course you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
When:
The latest ‘Me..time’ Pilates timetable is available now.
Typically classes are available throughout the week in the mornings / afternoons and evenings. Call or email us to register an interest, or to receive an updated timetable.
Try to arrive to the class or studio 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time, as this will allow you time to advise the Instructor of any changes in health and will give you time to select your mat and working area. Classes will start punctually at the scheduled time.
Booking is essential to secure your place!
Class format:
‘Me..time’ Pilates classes involve a gentle warm-up focusing on your breathing, posture and engaging your core muscles, then a variety of specific exercises that strengthen your deep postural muscles as well as toning those common problem areas. We will be finishing with a few minutes of relaxation or stretches to rest the body and empty the mind, so you should leave the class feeling refreshed and energised.
Work Pace:
Where possible we aim that each class will be relevant to your own level, but where the classes are multi-levelled you will work at your own pace, so you can choose a level that suits you and your energy levels at that time. It is not a race or a competition!
Some weeks you may feel able to try a higher level and others not. This doesn't matter and in fact it is more important to get the basic techniques accurate before progressing so you don't compromise or harm your body. 'Quality not quantity!' Don't worry if you have injuries, old or new, back/neck problems or you are pregnant. All exercises can be adapted, just let us know. Attire:
Keep your attire simple, at least at first, it will help you to figure out what works best for you. One exception however, is fitness attire that is too loose. Baggy is a problem in Pilates because we (The Instructor) must be able to see your alignment and muscle use. Your feet will be bare throughout the session.
Jewellery & Scents:
A couple of extras that I want to mention are jewellery and scents. It is always a good idea to keep jewellery to a minimum when you workout. Bracelets, long necklaces, and even dangling earrings can be distracting or, even worse, they get caught up. In addition, we ask that you avoid wearing strong-scented fragrances or perfumed lotions where possible, as a courtesy to other clients.
‘Me..time’ Pilates The courses run for 8 weeks to allow us to get to know you better individually and prescribe specific exercises or adaptations to suit your individual needs.
